ʻOhana is family, in the wide sense of relatives by blood, adoption, and affection. It comes from ʻohā, the taro shoots that grow from the parent corm, so a family is a cluster of shoots from one root. Kaʻohana is the family, ʻOhanalani heavenly family, ʻOhanakai a family of the sea.
